BEFORE IT
WAS LOST.
Not demos pretending to be finished records.
A record of the songs before memory could take them.
Most of these songs were written in the mid-to-late 1980s. At some later point — possibly in the early 1990s — Paul made a rough taped record of the material: complete songs, unfinished songs, fragments, lyric quotations and spoken explanations.
The purpose was simple and urgent: get the material down before it was lost.
The recordings were later digitised and gathered together in 2004. Some were subsequently considered for Waifs and Strays, a collection of demos and material that had not found another home, but not everything could be brought to releasable audio quality.
THE SONGS & SURVIVING NOTES

Escape From Me
The archive file is longer than the intended finished song because it includes a substantial spoken explanation. Paul envisages the fully produced piece at roughly six minutes, including its crescendo and fade-out.

LATER GARAGEBAND EXPERIMENTS
These two files ended up in the same digital folder but belong to a later period rather than the older preservation tape.
Sam and Dad
Paul and Sam testing GarageBand together, with Sam on vocals. The date is remembered approximately.
In Another Life
A short song made by Paul while testing GarageBand, probably somewhat later than Sam and Dad.
